BEANS & BREAD - Plaza Indonesia Thamrin Jakarta

Catch up with dear friends, we found the new place that just opened last month. Beans & Bread that located at 4th Floor of Plaza Indonesi, Jakarta. The place is quiet empty when we arrived.

Beans & Bread have chic and clean interior. With red and grey dominated the area. The big glasses also give the illusion that the room look more wide. Beans & Bread have a semi open kitchen where we can see it from the dining area. We seat in the long red sofa, in-front of the big mirror, that really convy to have a chit-chat.

Beans & Bread have varieties of selection menu. From Western to Asian. From sandwich, pasta and rice. They all look promising and tempting. So since its the new place, we decided to try different type of menus.

MANADO BOWL - IDR 75.000
Beef shank in spicy woku sauce and sautéed traditional papaya flowers
They nailed executed this Manado Bowl. The rice is well cooked. Beef shank, oh my... for you spicy lover, you'll gonna love this one. The chili is so kick, perfectly seasoned, ad really soak into the beef shank. The beef also tender. And for the side  sautéed traditional papaya flowers it also taste good. It's not bitter and well seasoned.

HERB CHICKEN RICE BOWL - IDR 65.000
Marinated boneless chicken grilled to perfection with sautéed vegetables and melted cheese
Rice topped with generous toppings like boneless chicken that well marinated. It so tender and juicy. It also grilled right so it not burnt. The owey gooey  melted cheese is so overload covered the sautéed vegetables. Eventhough the cheese are overload but it's not too cheesy and make us become overwhelmed. Well I guess, it become a perfect match with the herbs chicken.

NASI UDUK BETAWI BOWL - IDR 65.000
Betawi style coconut milk rice with fried chicken, “semur telor” and sweet & spicy “tempe ikan teri”
Nasi Uduk Betawi taste wise. I wish the rice is more fragrant and savory with a little more add of the coconut milk. So it can make the rice taste more rich. Sweet & Spicy Tempeh & Ikan Teri (anchovy) taste good. It still have a crunchy texture and seasoning. While the chicken is tasteless and too dry. The tofu stew quiet good. Not too thick like Betawi style but it have flavor in it.

MEXICAN DORY SANDWICH - IDR 75.000
Breaded dory served Mexican style with salsa, avocado, sour cream and crunchy tortilla on a toasted Cuban roll
From the presentation and appearance it look so promising and tempting. The portion is quiet big. With stack of breaded dory. But it turned out to be a so so sandwich. The dory a bit tasteless. Luckily it still has its texture. Crunchy on the outside and juicy in the inside.

ANGEL HAIR CREAMY FUNGHI - IDR 75.000
Angel hair pasta served with a creamy parmesan sauce and sautéed champignon mushrooms
Angel hair past is the slimmer and thinner version spaghetti. It cooked aldente and not soggy. I like the creaminess of the cheese. Its not overwhelmed but really taste rich. with the generous amount of mushroom make this pasta taste more delicious. In the end, I'm the who clear up the plate LOL.

Ice Cappuccino - IDR 45.000
At the end, Beans & Bread worth to visit to have lunch or dinner. The place, the service is great with decent taste of food. They also have many selection of coffee, blended drinks, milkshakes and juices. Well... guess you have to try on your own. Good Luck Beans & Bread!

GYROS ALLEY – Panglima Polim Jakarta

I never in my life taste Greek cuisine. Saw on my friend's post couple times about Greek cuisine, and makes me curious to have a try. It's not too hard to find the Gyros Alley location. They have a big sign board with big Gyros in-front of their restaurant.

Me and hubby arrived before dark, and thinking sit outside on balcony. Sounds great and its not too hot anymore. But too bad, it already vacant with other peoples huhuu....

Gyros Alley separated into two Floor. When you entering the restaurant, you'll find the Bar and the Grilling section. It so attractive. Not much sitting area on 1st floor. We decided to sit in 2nd floor. They placed the big mirror to make an illusion a big room. And all over their walls there's Greece thematic mural.

FALAFEL - IDR 45.000
Falafel is a common dish from Middle East. Usually made from chick peas, fafa beans or mixed from both of them. Falafel can be eaten as a snack or served with pita bread. It usually served with salad and tzaziki sauce, hot sauce or drizzled with tahini-based sauce.
We choose this falafel as a starter just because we so curious, and we end with enjoyed it so much. The fried falafel balls is so fragrant with herbs. It so crunchy on the outside and so flaky on the inside. I like dipped it in the tzaziki sauce. It tangy yet refreshing.

GYROS SOUVLAKI
LAMB - IDR 62.000
CHICKEN - IDR 55.000
FALAFEL - IDR 50.000

Charcoal Roasted Meat, Tzaziki Sauce, Tomato & Onion Wrapped in Homemade Pita Bread.
Gyros is a Greek Style tender lamb or chicken fillet that has been marinatedfor 42 hours stack in  horizontal charcoal spit and roasted to perfection. We ordered this Gyros Souvlaki because its the signature dish from Gyros Alley. Looks like we have the right decision ordered this menu. The one we ordered is the Gyros Souvlaki Lamb. It taste so darn good! The lamb is well marinated, juicy and so tender. The pita bread also soft and moist, It perfect match with the tzaziki sauce.

GYROS PLATTER
LAMB - IDR 65.000
CHICKEN - IDR 58.000
FALAFEL - IDR 55.000

Platter Charcoal Roasted Meat / Falafel, Tzaziki Sauce, Greek Salad, Pita Bread.
Actually the Gyros Platter is not so different with the Gyros Souvlaki. The different is only if the Gyros Souvlaki is the meat wrapped in pita bread, while in the Platter the pita bread served separated from the meat. Just realized that we ordered both with Lamb. Guess we're in the mood for lamb. And again, the lamb is very juicy and tender. I love all the combination with the salad and the tzaziki sauce. Really addicting.

At the end, on the first time our visit and our first attemped to have a try for Greek food, we can say it nailed! The food that Gyros Alley served is really good. With the good ambiance of the restaurant and a good service, Gyros Alley is definitely a place that worth to visit. We might be back for their other menu and dessert. We're to full to have our dessert on our first back then.

SHABU GHIN – Wolter Monginsidi Jakarta

If you see my previous post regarding Shaburi Japanese Shabu-Shabu, you'll notice that I told you guys that my hubby and I lately always end our self in All You Can Eat dining place. Specially when the rain coming. Eating something hot and soupy sound a great idea. So here we are at the newest join Shabu-Shabu house that located on Wolter Monginsidi area.

We're a bit surprise when come to Shabu Ghin, there are already a long queuing although its already past the dinner hour. Arrived at Shabu Ghin around 8.30pm on weekday and we have to wait around 8 more peoples. Whaattt??!! But since we've been through the jam and the road  construction a long the way, well... no choice unless waiting.

You can choose 4 kind of all you can eat package that you can choose.

  • Shabu Ghin Special Beef IDR 188.000 for Adult or IDR 115.000 for Child/Senior
  • Shabu Ghin US Premium Beef IDR 238.000 for Adult or IDR 145.000 for Child/Senior
  • Shabu Ghin Wagyu Beef IDR 388.000 for Adult or IDR 235.000 for Child/Senior
If you already buy one of the package, you still can buy other meat outside your package for certain price. For example if you already buy the Shabu Ghin Special Beef, and you curious with the Wagyu one, you still can buy the Wagyu also. Shabu Ghin IDR 30.000/plate, Shabu Ghin US Premium Beef IDR 50.000/plate and Shabu Ghin Wagyu Beef IDR 80.000/plate.

Or if you can't manage the all you can eat menu, Shabu Ghin also have Set Menu. That consist Meat 2 plate of Meat and also include unlimited vegetables, drink and dessert.
  • Shabu Ghin Special Beef  IDR 128.000
  • Shabu Ghin US Premium Beef IDR 168.000
  • Shabu Ghin Wagyu Beef IDR 258.000

Shabu Ghin have an earthy dining area concept. With wooden as their element. Divided into two area that separated with a view stairs. Since its pretty full packed that night, me and hubby don't to be seated infront of the Bar.Well, it can also make us easy to fly and grab the food aight? Hehehe.... Electric stove already built in the table. And we can use it separately with our friends. So if you come with your friends or family, you taste their soup also. This is what I did with my hubby. We order 2 different kind of soup so we can taste each other.

Look at that marble on the Wagyu Beef *drooling*
The US Premium Beef  that also you shouldn't miss
If we order the Shabu Ghin Wagyu Beef package, we also have privileged to have other beef like the Shabu Ghin Special Beef and Shabu Ghin US Premium Beef. Since I came to Shabu Ghin already late, so I ran out the Shabu Ghin Special Beef. The one that I tried was the Shabu Ghin US Premium Beef. The texture really great. As for the Shabu Ghin Wagyu Beef... Oh my... It melted in my mouth right away. I die!! My suggestion is, don't dip too long in the soup, otherwise you will ruin the texture.

Shabu Ghin have pretty wide selection on their Buffet tables that place in the center of the dining area. From vegetables, Mushroom, Sushi, Karage, Tempura Moriawase, Assorted Seafood Balls, Assorted Noodles also fruits and dessert.

Shabu Ghin have 5 type of Soup that already include in your All you can eat package. But incase you curious with other soup outside your order, you still can order the other soup with additional charge IDR 29.000

The Soup that available in Shabu Ghin are Original Konbu, Chicken Mizutaki, Spicy Tonyu, Spicy Seafood and Sukiyaki. That night I ordered the Spicy Tonyu meanwhile hubby ordered Spicy Seafood. Both had an excellent taste. The Spicy Tonyu the one that make me curious. Because it only served in Shabu Ghin only. You never can't find any Spicy Tonyu Soup in other Shabu-Shabu restaurant. So it can be said that it's the Signature Soup from Shabu Ghin. The taste is like curry but more light with soybean based and a bit spicy taste. And the Spicy Seafood with also a slightly spicy taste have a very rich of seafood flavor.

Sushi
Ramen Spaghetti

Complete your journey at Shabu Ghin with the other sides and menu from Shabu Ghin's Buffet. The Ramen Spaghetti cooked to aldente with great flavor. Love the generosity of the meet and bolognaise sauce. Sushi with wise taste topped with crunchy garlic and crunchy karage on top. The karage and tempura also good. Not greasy. It crunchy outside and tender inside. Skip the Japchae as my tummy getting full.

I like the variant sauce that Shabu Ghin have. Try to be creative to mix'em up. I like the spicy suki taste taht I mix with the ponzu sauce. It suit with the fried  dish.

All you eat package also already include the unlimited beverages and dessert. I like the Sjora Mango drink. It so refreshing. And end your journey at Shabu Ghin with their Ice Cream and toppings.

At the end... we've got the Wagyu Overdose Syndrome here LOL... Dunno how many stack we've been eat. It so melt in your mouth makes you barely can't stop to eat it. Surely we'll comeback some other time to have another Shabu-Shabu Journey.
