CARLO de HUTS - SENAYAN CITY

A view times ago, I had a quick meeting with an old friend. So we headed to Carlo de Huts because friend was so curious with one of their menu.

Carlo de Huts located in the very busy mall in town Senayan City Lower Ground at the Crystal Lagoon area. It'a a very eye catching restaurant. Look like entering my Grandma's kitchen. Separated  in two area outdoor for smoking area and indoor for non-smoking area. We choose the non-smoking area of course.

The interior is dominated with wooden. It gave so earthy and homey feeling. Its quiet comvey sitting in the restaurant of Carlo de Huts. Don't want to wait any longer, we straight to placed our order.

Carlo de Huts served many varieties Western and Dutch dishes. Luckily the waiter keep patience explained to us for the menus they have. Since we a bit confuse what to order at the beginning.

BABY CORN CHEESE - IDR 75.000
Corn, Mushroom, Smoked Chicken and scrambled egg with Melted Cheese on Top
Its a typical kind of breakfast menu actually. Just look what inside. Scrambled eggs, with corn and smoked chicken. Served in a crisp bowl. It's quite make you full when  you eat it by your self. The taste is pretty great. Even though the cheese is very generous, its not too overwhelmed.

CHICK'S SANDWICH BAR - IDR 65.000
This chicken Sandwich is pretty decent. The chicken is crispy outside and tender inside. With the melted cheese and barbeque sauce in it. Served with light green salad and french fries. The baguette also quite moist and not hard to chew.

BUTTER BEER - IDR 43.500
Do you remember the Harry Potter movie? Well this drink is definitely inspired by it. Even though it called a beer, but there's no beer contain in it. Its more like a rootbeer with a creamy taste in it. Its way too sweet for my palate. But if you want something unique, guess you can try this one.

Overall, the food that they served is quiet good and unique. The place and the service also great. Will definately back here in some other day.

BEANS & BREAD - Plaza Indonesia Thamrin Jakarta

Catch up with dear friends, we found the new place that just opened last month. Beans & Bread that located at 4th Floor of Plaza Indonesi, Jakarta. The place is quiet empty when we arrived.

Beans & Bread have chic and clean interior. With red and grey dominated the area. The big glasses also give the illusion that the room look more wide. Beans & Bread have a semi open kitchen where we can see it from the dining area. We seat in the long red sofa, in-front of the big mirror, that really convy to have a chit-chat.

Beans & Bread have varieties of selection menu. From Western to Asian. From sandwich, pasta and rice. They all look promising and tempting. So since its the new place, we decided to try different type of menus.

MANADO BOWL - IDR 75.000
Beef shank in spicy woku sauce and sautéed traditional papaya flowers
They nailed executed this Manado Bowl. The rice is well cooked. Beef shank, oh my... for you spicy lover, you'll gonna love this one. The chili is so kick, perfectly seasoned, ad really soak into the beef shank. The beef also tender. And for the side  sautéed traditional papaya flowers it also taste good. It's not bitter and well seasoned.

HERB CHICKEN RICE BOWL - IDR 65.000
Marinated boneless chicken grilled to perfection with sautéed vegetables and melted cheese
Rice topped with generous toppings like boneless chicken that well marinated. It so tender and juicy. It also grilled right so it not burnt. The owey gooey  melted cheese is so overload covered the sautéed vegetables. Eventhough the cheese are overload but it's not too cheesy and make us become overwhelmed. Well I guess, it become a perfect match with the herbs chicken.

NASI UDUK BETAWI BOWL - IDR 65.000
Betawi style coconut milk rice with fried chicken, “semur telor” and sweet & spicy “tempe ikan teri”
Nasi Uduk Betawi taste wise. I wish the rice is more fragrant and savory with a little more add of the coconut milk. So it can make the rice taste more rich. Sweet & Spicy Tempeh & Ikan Teri (anchovy) taste good. It still have a crunchy texture and seasoning. While the chicken is tasteless and too dry. The tofu stew quiet good. Not too thick like Betawi style but it have flavor in it.

MEXICAN DORY SANDWICH - IDR 75.000
Breaded dory served Mexican style with salsa, avocado, sour cream and crunchy tortilla on a toasted Cuban roll
From the presentation and appearance it look so promising and tempting. The portion is quiet big. With stack of breaded dory. But it turned out to be a so so sandwich. The dory a bit tasteless. Luckily it still has its texture. Crunchy on the outside and juicy in the inside.

ANGEL HAIR CREAMY FUNGHI - IDR 75.000
Angel hair pasta served with a creamy parmesan sauce and sautéed champignon mushrooms
Angel hair past is the slimmer and thinner version spaghetti. It cooked aldente and not soggy. I like the creaminess of the cheese. Its not overwhelmed but really taste rich. with the generous amount of mushroom make this pasta taste more delicious. In the end, I'm the who clear up the plate LOL.

Ice Cappuccino - IDR 45.000

At the end, Beans & Bread worth to visit to have lunch or dinner. The place, the service is great with decent taste of food. They also have many selection of coffee, blended drinks, milkshakes and juices. Well... guess you have to try on your own. Good Luck Beans & Bread!

Cali Deli - Menteng Jakarta

After a quick bite and a quick at Giyanti Coffee Roastery that located next the door, me and my sister still a bit hungry and want to find a lil' bit relaxing and not crowded place. Since we're too lazy to go anywhere, so we decided to have a (again!) quick meal but still can have our relax moment. So here we are at Cali Deli.

Located in Menteng Area, across the antique market, Jalan Surabaya, Cali Deli specialize them self into a Vietnamese Sandwiches (or it usually known as banh mi in Vietnam) Restaurant. Built in the year 2006, and also has another eatery called 'Madame Ching' that served Vietnamese Noodles  and located also in Cali Deli area.

Cali Deli split into 2 area, indoor and outdoor. After look at the indoor area, we decided to have a sit outside the area. Because it more bright and convy. The indoor area is more dim light and more dark. Maybe because the sofa color is maroon. Meanwhile the outdoor area is more attractive. We just wish that there's wind and the fan can cover the hot weather outside. Since only few visitor, and no one smoke, even though the outside area is allow you to smoke.

LEMON GRASS - IDR 50.000
Toasted banh mi with marinated tender slice chicken in Lemon Grass signature Vietnamese  sauce and combine with fresh Vegetables.
Well, even though the presentation is not pretty, but this banh mi surprisingly taste delicious. The lemon grass gave a fresh taste and a bit tangy taste. the chicken also marinated well and tender. So its a well balance. I like the vegetables that still have crunchy texture.

COMBO - THE SIGNATURE - IDR 57.000

Loved the chicken ham, but the chicken pate was too over whelmed. Oh, FYI, Chicken Pate is a mashed chicken Liver. It was good if you ate it one bite. But then, you'll feel enough after next bite. Luckily the carrots that already marinated with vinegar and sugar can neutralize it.

Overall, for a quick meal, Cali Deli still one of fine restaurant to have Banh Mi. The baguettes is great, the ingredients fresh, and the service is good.

EL ASADOR - KEMANG JAKARTA

Last week I stepped out at Kemang area along with my friends. At 1st we want to go to Panglima Polim area but the we cancelled it because a damn traffic that Saturday afternoon. Confuse where to go, when we walk we remember about El Asador that only a step away from our meeting point.

El Asador placed in Kemang area closed to Swiss Bell Hotel. Served South American food that authentic with "parillas'' or barbeque cooking. While "Asado" means short ribs. So it give us a hint a bit abour what El Asador offer. Something grill, something barbeque and something meat. Droolling....

Entering the El Asador restaurant, it full of dark wooden furniture with hanging flag from all over countries.  The rooms split into 3 area, indoor where you can find mini stage for live music on the weekend, big screen TV and bar area. while at outdoor you can choose whether you want to sit at outdoor where you can see the busy Kemang Street or the outdoor inside the building. For smokers, you can sit at the outdoor that facing the Kemang street.

CHIVITO AL PAN - IDR 94.000
Toasted soft bread, churrasco tenderloin steak, lettuce, tomato, ham (beef or turkey), bacon (beef or turkey), mozzarella cheese, fried egg, olives, and homemade mayonnaise. Served with seasoned French Fries.
At first I thought the portion not too big. But then my order, Chivito Al Pan came in a big portion. It's enough to make your tummy full. I love every elements of this menu. The bread is soft not dry and hard, the tenderloin steak is so tender and juicy, it so damn good. The lettuce still fresh and crisp, beef ham and beef bacon give the  crisp texture. Like the seasoned french fries that came along also. Thin cut of fries, so crunchy and not oily.

MILANESA de POLLO - IDR 94.000
Juice marinated chicken breast cooked schnitzel-­style, coated with breadcrumbs, served with ham (beef or turkey), and topped with mozzarella cheese, tomato paste, and green peas. Choose one side dish: Russian Salad or seasoned French Fries.
A simple dish come with a very extra-ordinary taste. This milanesa de pollo really cooked perfectly. The chicken is really tender and juicy. It marinated well. The tomato paste that taste a bit tangy can be a balancing for the chicken that topped in generous amount of mozzarella cheese. The beef ham also tender. Not cooked in crispy texture. Served with Russian salad that contained paprika, potato peas with mayonnaise.

EGGS BENEDICT EL ASADOR - IDR 66.000
Sautéed spinach with cream and a touch of Parmesan cheese, served with homemade Hollandaise sauce, toasted English muffin, and poached eggs. Sautéed mushrooms as side dish.
CHOOSE FROM ONE OF THE FOLLOWING, FOR YOUR EGGS BENEDICT :
* Smoked salmon
* Bacon (beef or turkey)
* Ham (beef or turkey)
English muffin in this Eggs Benedict is so soft and fluffy. Like the way they cooked the spinach and Sautéed spinach and Sautéed mushrooms. It taste a hint of garlic and not overcooked. The hollandaise sauce combine with the parmesan sauce taste right. Not too overwhelmed one another. Here, my friend paired it with the beef bacon.

PASTA EL ASADOR - IDR 61.000
CHOOSE:
Pasta : Fettuccine, Spaghetti, Linguini, and Penne.
Sauce : Pesto, Carbonara, Cheese, Aglio Olio, Arabiata, Bolognaise, and Champignon.
Topping : Sliced chicken breast, Mushrooms, Bacon (beef or turkey), Ham (beef or turkey), and Shrimp.
On the above picture, my friend choose the Spaghetti Cheese topped with Beef Bacon. I usually like my pasta with generous amount of creamy sauce. But now since it only cheese sauce, it looked dry. When I taste it, it pretty good. The cheese sauce is great without overpowering cheesy taste. the spaghetti cooked aldente. And the beef bacon add the more texture to this pasta. Lovely.

MANGO BERRIES BLUFFING - IDR 50.000
The appearance is so  pretty. Like a sunshine. a combination between mango and strawberries. Give a sweet and sour flavor. Topped with blueberry. So refreshing.

At the end, we're having so much excitement dine at El Asador. The food is so delish and scrumptious. The served is great and the place have a nice ambiance. The portion is so worth the price. Recommended!

After their huge succeeded in Singapore, now Yo' Panino arrived at Jakarta Indonesia to give another alternative to the hungry peoples in Jakarta. The sandwich that Yo' Panino served not just an ordinary sandwich. Because looking at the portion, this pretty huge.

At Yo' Panino you can choose the choice of 3 fresh kind of bread, which are Farmhouse White (artistically soft with a touch of salt), Multigrain (healthy choice of rolled oats, flax, sesame and sunflower seeds), and Turkish Pide (read: 'piday') a moist and light with toasted sesame seeds. There is also sandwich that wrapped with corn tortilla. So yes, Yo' Panino have many selections of sandwich that really look tempting.

Because  this sloppy joe taste great. The tender beef mixed with Yo' Panino's Special Sauce and Cheddar Melt. The sauce taste savory, a blend between sweet and spicy. Or maybe you can mix it with barbeque sauce or their aioli sauce. It taste even more good.

This salad is so fresh and really a great start to eat. all taste really play in my palate. The sweet, sour, a bit tangy, and a bit chilli really taste balance. Plus the dory is well seasoning and so tender.

Here come the uniqueness from Yo' Panino. An Indonesian fusion Salad with a tempe as the main star. Tempe is a traditional Indonesian food that made from soy bean. Mixed with Java slwa that made from coleslaw and peanut butter sauce. Like Gado-Gado, but in a modern way hehehe...

Both Buffalo Wings and Chicken Pops is really goods. But I really like the buffalo wings better. It seasoning well. Crisp outside and tender inside.  Try to be creative with dip it in their varieties of sauce. Each sauce have magnificent and it signature taste. 

Meanwhile the Java Slaw is another unique salad. Inspire by the Indonesian food using peanut butter sauce, peas, coleslaw and topped with cheese.

Other addictive sidekicks menu definitely the Truffle Parmesan Fries. String Cut Potato, mixed with truffle oil that so fragrant and the parmesan cheese. Eat it while its hot. It soo good.

LITE-BITE

Yo' Panino also have dessert that you wont missed. they have selection of banana cake, coconut squares and chocolate chip cookies. Their coconut squares is to die for. It so moist and addictive. Even it still taste good in the next day when i warmth it in my microwave. According to Mr Jitin Kapoor, its a modification from his Mom cake. Well, Mom... I bow on your knees. Don't judge the not so pretty appearance of their cookies. It taste good with a hint of minty flavor in it. 

COLD-PRESSED JUICE YO!

There are some selection of Cold-Pressed Juice from Yo' Panino. It really fresh, no fake ingredients added. Yo' Panino only use fresh fruits and Veggies to their Juices. You definitely have to try this one. As for my self, I mixed it 3 choice of fruits. I mixed the Strawberry, Lemon & Orange. It taste so good, freshening, a bit sour, which I like. So it can be a balancing of the full menu from Yo' Panino.

Just tell to your server, and they happily help you out. You wont get bored eating sandwich. Just use your creativity and find your taste.
