EL ASADOR - KEMANG JAKARTA

Last week I stepped out at Kemang area along with my friends. At 1st we want to go to Panglima Polim area but the we cancelled it because a damn traffic that Saturday afternoon. Confuse where to go, when we walk we remember about El Asador that only a step away from our meeting point.


El Asador placed in Kemang area closed to Swiss Bell Hotel. Served South American food that authentic with "parillas'' or barbeque cooking. While "Asado" means short ribs. So it give us a hint a bit abour what El Asador offer. Something grill, something barbeque and something meat. Droolling....


Entering the El Asador restaurant, it full of dark wooden furniture with hanging flag from all over countries.  The rooms split into 3 area, indoor where you can find mini stage for live music on the weekend, big screen TV and bar area. while at outdoor you can choose whether you want to sit at outdoor where you can see the busy Kemang Street or the outdoor inside the building. For smokers, you can sit at the outdoor that facing the Kemang street.


CHIVITO AL PAN - IDR 94.000
Toasted soft bread, churrasco tenderloin steak, lettuce, tomato, ham (beef or turkey), bacon (beef or turkey), mozzarella cheese, fried egg, olives, and homemade mayonnaise. Served with seasoned French Fries.
At first I thought the portion not too big. But then my order, Chivito Al Pan came in a big portion. It's enough to make your tummy full. I love every elements of this menu. The bread is soft not dry and hard, the tenderloin steak is so tender and juicy, it so damn good. The lettuce still fresh and crisp, beef ham and beef bacon give the  crisp texture. Like the seasoned french fries that came along also. Thin cut of fries, so crunchy and not oily.


MILANESA de POLLO - IDR 94.000
Juice marinated chicken breast cooked schnitzel-­style, coated with breadcrumbs, served with ham (beef or turkey), and topped with mozzarella cheese, tomato paste, and green peas. Choose one side dish: Russian Salad or seasoned French Fries.
A simple dish come with a very extra-ordinary taste. This milanesa de pollo really cooked perfectly. The chicken is really tender and juicy. It marinated well. The tomato paste that taste a bit tangy can be a balancing for the chicken that topped in generous amount of mozzarella cheese. The beef ham also tender. Not cooked in crispy texture. Served with Russian salad that contained paprika, potato peas with mayonnaise.


EGGS BENEDICT EL ASADOR - IDR 66.000
Sautéed spinach with cream and a touch of Parmesan cheese, served with homemade Hollandaise sauce, toasted English muffin, and poached eggs. Sautéed mushrooms as side dish.
CHOOSE FROM ONE OF THE FOLLOWING, FOR YOUR EGGS BENEDICT :
* Smoked salmon
* Bacon (beef or turkey)
* Ham (beef or turkey)

English muffin in this Eggs Benedict is so soft and fluffy. Like the way they cooked the spinach and Sautéed spinach and Sautéed mushrooms. It taste a hint of garlic and not overcooked. The hollandaise sauce combine with the parmesan sauce taste right. Not too overwhelmed one another. Here, my friend paired it with the beef bacon.


PASTA EL ASADOR - IDR 61.000
CHOOSE:
Pasta : Fettuccine, Spaghetti, Linguini, and Penne.
Sauce : Pesto, Carbonara, Cheese, Aglio Olio, Arabiata, Bolognaise, and Champignon.
Topping : Sliced chicken breast, Mushrooms, Bacon (beef or turkey), Ham (beef or turkey), and Shrimp.

On the above picture, my friend choose the Spaghetti Cheese topped with Beef Bacon. I usually like my pasta with generous amount of creamy sauce. But now since it only cheese sauce, it looked dry. When I taste it, it pretty good. The cheese sauce is great without overpowering cheesy taste. the spaghetti cooked aldente. And the beef bacon add the more texture to this pasta. Lovely.

Blueberry Ice Tea with blueberry fruit that give a sour taste


MANGO BERRIES BLUFFING - IDR 50.000
The appearance is so  pretty. Like a sunshine. a combination between mango and strawberries. Give a sweet and sour flavor. Topped with blueberry. So refreshing.

At the end, we're having so much excitement dine at El Asador. The food is so delish and scrumptious. The served is great and the place have a nice ambiance. The portion is so worth the price. Recommended!

STEAK BEEF & FISH - New menu from Kenny Rogers Roasters

I always excited when it comes to Steak. And a view days ago, I heard that Kenny Rogers launched new grilled menu.


Grilled menu that Kenny Rogers offers are choice of Beef and Fish. But you have to beware. Because this menu only for period time. So mark your calendar. Beef & Reef menu will only available start from 1st December 2014 - 25 January 2015. So don't miss it!


GRILLED BEEF STEAK - IDR 89.000
Imported Beef Marinated with Seasoned Herbs. Served with Grilled Tomato, Mashed Potato and Garlic Butter Mixed Veggies. 
Kenny Rogers serve Australian Rib Eye for their new menu. What I like from this Beef steak is that it marinated well and the seasoned really soak up into the meat. The sauce taste is like the black pepper sauce that they usually served in their regular menu. But too bad, the beef steak texture is so dense and really hard to chew. I think its too overcooked otherwise there's a mistaken on butchering the beef. Kenny Rogers really need improvement with this beef Steak. Like the veggies also. It still crunchy and fresh when it served. With a hint of garlic butter.


GRILLED FISH FILLET - IDR 69.000
Specially Seasoned Fish Grilled to Golden Brown Served with Aromatic Rice or Mushroom Chicken Soup and Garlic Butter Mixed Veggies
Like the combination between the Gindara Fish and the marinara sauce. The sauce really marinated the fish well. It taste right. Sweet, Spicy and a bit tangy. Its so match with the fish. Meanwhile the fish is so tender and not smell fishy. You can choose either the cream soup aromatic rice for your side beside the mixed veggies.


DELUXE COMBO - IDR 119.000
A Combination of 1/4 Rotisserie Roasted Chicken with Grilled Fish. Served with Mashed Potato, Garden Salad and Barbeque Baked Beans
If you think one is never enough, then I think you should try this deluxe combo. The portion seriously huge. if you familiar already with Kenny Rogers menu, then you must be know about their chicken size. I like the old chicken of Kenny Rogers. It cooked great. With a crisp skin and tender meat. What could you ask for more. If in one plate you get the signature chicken of Kenny Rogers and their new menu Fish Fillet. Recommended!

Other menu that Kenny Rogers offer is the SUPREME COMBO - IDR 79.000 that contains of 2 (two) of Grilled Fish Fillet that served with  garlic butter mixed veggies and Mushroom Chicken Soup.

Overall, I always excited visiting Kenny Rogers Roasters. The variation of the new menus that seasonally served makes their customer feel not bored to visiting Kenny Rogers. Keep make improvement Kenny Rogers. Good Luck!

Street Steak - Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK)

A view times ago, me and my friends visited Pantai Indah Kapuk area. Even though we already a bit full because our journey earlier to Shirayuki and Cake-a-Boo but we still decided to visit Street Steak though. Its already dinner timer when we arrived. And lucky for us, although its already crowded inside, but we don't have to queue like the restaurant that we've visited before. But after we sat, the queue already like snake...


Street Steak PIK is a branch from Kelapa Gading. Been heard a positive thoughts about this steak. So we decided to have a try.

The place is not too spacious. But convey enough to dine. Like its name, they themed the restaurant into street style look. Like wooden furniture, road sign, yellow line on the road and others details. We sat in a tables that looked like gazebo.


Siince its still newly joined in PIK area, so Street Steak have promotion price for the steak. They discount their Hakube Meat for 50% and other menu for 10%. What a deal!!


HENRY THE ELDER - IDR 132.000
400 Grams Australian Sirloin Served on a hot stone
When it arrived at our tables, I feel intimidate by the size. Its huge and smells so damn good. The juice that dropped to the side of the meat makes me mouthwatering. The sauce marinated well into the meat. Onion under the meat can prevent the meat to overcooked. The onion become yummy and caramelize after a while. Served with mashed potato. The texture of the mashed potato not too smooth and t he taste a bit bland. The sautee veggie also a bit overcooked. My friend paired it with mushroom sauce. The mushroom sauce taste a bit less seasoning with little amount of the mushroom.


HOKUBEE PREMIUM RIB EYE - IDR 220.000 110.000 (for period time)
200grams of beef served at our tables. Like the previous sirloin, this ribeyes served with generous marinated sauce. It more juicy and tender than the sirloin. It straight melt in my mouth. It feel like 200grams is not enough. Served with sauteed veggie and mashed potato and paired with barbeque sauce. The barbeque sauce taste a bit sweet. Add a little tabasco to give a tangy taste. It taste more good.


ATLANTIC SALMON STEAK - IDR 98.000
200 Grams Salmon Fillet Served on a Hot Stone
Like I told you earlier, before came to this place, I already visited 2 other restaurants. So, because I'm afraid that I'm too full and end get my ass up from the chair, so I order the salmon instead of the beef steak. Love the salmon so much. It so tender, smooth and not smell fishy. Street Steak also provide the 400 grams version of salmon. For this Salmon, I paired it with sauteed veggies, mashed potato and mushroom sauce.

HINT!!
  • Beware of the Hot Stone. It so damn hot and it can burnt you
  • Flip your meat immediately, not too long put your meat on the hot stone. If you think its cook, then place it on the other plate. You don't want your meat become overcooked and chewy aight?  I like my meat cook to medium. If you want to cook evenly, maybe you can cut it into bite size. 
  • Come early to site, whether before dinner or lunch time to avoid a long queuing. 
Overall, I satisfied with Street Steak. From the food, the service and the price. Usrely I will come back for other steak menu. Good luck for PIK branch Steak Street.

Cake A Boo - Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK)

So many dessert cafe lately in Jakarta. After visiting Shirayuki we planned that we must visit Cake-a-boo also. Stalked on their instagram, it really caught my eyes. They have a very cute and adorable concept for both their restaurant and cakes selection.


We came to Cake-A-Boo around 3pm and its rainy. When we arrived, the restaurant that have to spacious area already full packed. So we have queue to get our seat. Finally we got a seat infront of the conveyor. Yes, cake-a-boo has a conveyor like in Sushi Restaurant. So we can pick the cake that we want straight from the coonveyor.


When 1st entering the Cake-a-Boo restaurant, i can't stand on my eyes capturing every single details in the room. It so playful and colorful. So eye-catching.


Look at the interior, surely I have a very high expectation on their menu. Plus see the presentation of their cakes, that really makes me drooling.

MIKO'S CAKE - IDR 35.000
Caramel mousse, crunchy caramel, melted salted 
I like the combination between caramel and chocolate. Even though both sweet, but its not too overwhelmed. And I guess Cake-a-Boo already adjust the sweetness so I don't feel it too sweet. The saltiness from the salted caramel make the caramel more tasty.

 
RASPUNZEL - IDR 35.000
Raspberry mousse infused with pistachio brulee
A very pretty and girly cake comes from Raspunzel. So beautiful with a fondant bow on top. Anything goes sour, it worked with me. And knowing it paired with the pistachio cream, make it balance between sweet and sour. Love it. 


NUTELLA BURGER - IDR 35.000 
Red velvet burger bun filled with nutella patty and assorted fruits. 
Love the nutella patty. The combination of rice crispy with the nutella is so addictive. The strawberry balance the sweetness from the nutella patty. However,   I don;t like the bun that made from red velvet. It so dry and not  moist. Really need improvement in it.


CAPPUCCINO BRULEE - IDR 29.000
This coffee is to sweet for my liking. I wonder if the coffee less sweet to make a balance from the sweetness of the sugar caramel on top.


Overall, I'm pretty impress with Cake-a-Boo. Still curious with their other menu. They also serve cake in big version in case you want to have your birthday cake here. Because Cake-a-Boo still new joint in town, just get prepare with the long queue. Specially on the weekend. But don;t worry, the service is really quick and very informative.

SHIRAYUKI - PANTAI INDAH KAPUK (PIK)

I never now abour Pondok Indah Kapuk area if me and my friendAline don't have a guts to visit there. Since its going to be a long journey for us (yes... it so far away from our crib) so we already set the list places that we're going to visit at Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK). First destination is Shirayuki. Why this become our 1st destination? Because I saw from Instagram that they have selection of main course also even though they've known as dessert restaurant.


We arrived there around 12pm on the weekend and the line is already not make any sense! Thanks to the foodies friends that we met that day, so we can joined them.

Shirayuki does not a spacious place. The limited seat plus a dessert and drink station in the middle of the room enough to make the restaurant full packed in suddenly. Luckily we met our other foodies friend who generously gave us a seat. Thank youuu....


Shirayuki still have renovation fro their 2nd Floor. It meant to be for the dining area also and for the smoking area. But in the mean time it still not ready, you have to be patience in queuing. I love the wooden furniture that they use. I doesn't make the restaurant look full. It look edgy and fun.

SAVORY MENU


KUSHIKATSU
A Japanese style of skewered, deep fried cutlet of meat or seasonal vegetables.
Chicken - IDR 8.000, 
Prawn - IDR 12.000,

Spicy Shitake Chicken - IDR 8.000,

Kushikatsu is a fried skewers that usually filled with vegetables or meat. Served with soyu and sweet and sour sauce. I love the tomato that filled with melted cheese in it. Also loved the spicy shitake chicken. Its not oily eve though they fried it. The meat also tender.


CABE IJO BIANCO - IDR 41.000
Alert for spicy lover! This fusion spaghetti is a marriage of Indonesia and Italia. The cabe ijo ( green chilli) remains me of the Padang food. The spicy really kick and make the taste really pop-out. Although its a bit oily, but The spaghetti cooked aldente. Yummy!


CRAB SPAGHETTI in TOMATO CREAM SAUCE - IDR 65.000
This crab spaghetti is blew me away. I don't know how they manage the sauce. I guess they use the crab broth in to the sauce. And it's smell fishy at all. The thickness of the sauce also just right. They gave it generous amount of the sauce. Topped with also generous amount of crab meat. Super yumm!!


SALMON CREAM SOUP SPAGHETTI - IDR 55.000
If you ever taste the Spaghetti Carbonara, well this is the lighter version of it. Not too creamy and thick like the usual carbonara. The spaghetti cooked aldente with generous amount of fresh tender salmon that have fatty cut also topped with lots of crunchy toppings. Loved it!

HAMBURG STEAK WITH EBI FURAI - IDR 72.000
For steak selection, Shirayuki have hamburg steak that contain with 2 (two) hambur steak that marinated well topped with melted cheese. The beef is so tender. Ebi furai served crunchy and nice. Too bad the side dish french fries and the corn is way too dry. Served with beautiful Sunny Side Egg.


BOLOGNESE GRATIN - IDR 38.000
Tomato creamy sauce that cooke with generous amount of minced beef and chicken. Love the consistency of the sauce. Topped with creamy sauce and cheese that well balance with the tomato. So that its not becoming overwhelmed. Served hot. I can't stop dig in it till the last bite.

DESSERT


HONEY CHEESE TOAST with CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM - IDR 39.500
Shirayuki picture it as bear in shower. Oh so adorable. I barely can't eat it. Shirayuki made this cute dessert for kids who come visit to Shirayuki. Its available for 2 taste only if you want to get this bear looks. The choice between chocolate or cheese. Like the toast much. The thick toast is so soft and the honey soak up well into the toast.


MILKY MANIC MATCHA with MATCHA ICE CREAM - IDR 40.000
Stuffed Mochi, Jelly, Mixed Nut, Almond.
Alert for Matcha (green tea) freak! I love matcha in every way. Shirayuki served it in 2 ways. Shaved matcha ice and ice cream. The ice cream texture is so smooth and delicate. I like the taste of the matcha. Unlike the matcha in other restaurant that sometimes taste to milky, matcha that Shirayuki have, has a bittersweet taste. Which I more like. its like that 1 scoop is never enough. The mixed nuts contained red bean and green bean. Cooked 'til it soft. beside the matcha ice cream, other celebrity on this plate is their stuffed mochi. Mochi texture is soft and chewy. stuffed with minced peanuts. It soooooo damn good. Too bad they don't sell it separately.


YUKIDARUMA MATSURI - IDR 58.000
Jelly, Mixed Nuts, Stuffed Mochi, Almond, Stuffed Ice Cream
What a cute presentation from the shaved ice here. Since Christmas is about to come, Shirayuki replace the snowman hat that usually using white color into red color, using strawberry. The other condiments more less is just like the manic matcha. The amazing stuffed mochi, mixed nuts, jelly and almond. But in here Shirayuki add the Mochi Ice Cream, mochi stuffed with vanilla ice cream and oreo cookies. To add the taste to ice shaved, we can choose the sauce. Fruity Sauce, Matcha Sauce and Chocolate Sauce. On the picture above is using the chocolate sauce.


BAILEY'S KANTEN - IDR 36.000
Kanten is a Japanese jelly that made from seaweed. There's a process before we had this Kanten. The waiter helped us to shredded it with their shredded utensil. When its done, the shaped more like noodles. Then pour it with the bailey's sauce. If they don't add ice on the bailey's, I believe we can get the more kick taste. Served with their homemade soft cream. A bit different than the usual ice cream. Their soft cream is easy to melt down. The texture more smooth and there's no drizzle in it. Love it!


WATANOKI MATSURI, SERENE BLUE / BLUEBERRY - IDR 37.000
Cotton Candy Tree ( Selection of original, blueberry, mango and strawberry ), Warabi Mochi, Soft Cream
The gorgeous appearance from the cotton candy. What an epic desert! Served with warabi mochi. Warabi Mochi has a nutty flavor that we must dip in the brown sugar that comes with it to make the taste more pop-out. For the soft cream, we paired it with Kashoku Soft Cream that made from mixed Japanese nuts. This is Shirayuki invention, and I'm so thrilled that they made it. This soft cream is drive me crazy (beside the matcha). It's the first time I ate Kashoku and I'm in love. And since this Kashoku only Shirayuki who has it, so I suggest you'd better never missed this Kashoku when you visit Shirayuki.


MATCHA & KASHOKU COMBINATION ICE CREAM - IDR 15.000
What can I say? Two my favorite soft cream mixed become one. I die!


COLD OCHA - IDR 14.000
This is the real Ocha. The shaped it powder. And it imported from Japan straight away.

Overall, I'm so happy visiting Shirayuki. Happy Tummy and Happy Face. Not only they serve the cute look of the menu. But the taste it self as good as the appearance. I suggest you come here at the afternoon or before lunch hour to avoid a very long queuing. Thank you Shirayuki for having us!!
